ROME, Ga. -- Berry College defeated the Maine Maritime Mariners on Sunday afternoon, 4-0.
Berry improved to 3-0-1 and the Mariners fell to 1-3.
The Vikings scored three times in the first half. Maggie Midkiff began the rally against the Mariners with an assist from Michala Bibbins in the 16th minute.
Freshman Arlena Joyner secured her first goal at Berry in the 23rd minute. The unassisted tally pushed the score to 2-0.
Emily Nixon made a long pass to Midkiff in the 37th minute. Midkiff collected the pass and scored her second goal of the contest.
The final goal came from Sydney Sheppard after a steal in the 58th minute. Bella Fornuto earned the assist on the play.
For the Mariners, the goalkeeper, Maggie McConkey earned six saves for the visitors.
Melissa Sanchez earned the shutout without having to make a save as BC had 20 shots to none for the Mariners.
The Vikings will face the Piedmont College Lions on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. at Ford Field.
