Vikings End Season with Draw Against Oglethorpe on Senior Day

MOUNT BERRY, Ga.-- The Berry College women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day on their final game of the season with a competitive match versus conference foe Oglethorpe University on Saturday afternoon, ending in a 0-0 draw on Bob Pearson Field.

The first half was marked by relentless defensive efforts from both the white and yellow teams. Freshman forward Annie Connors was on the attack early, creating scoring opportunities for Berry (7-4-5, 1-2-4 SAA) in the 12th and 15th minutes, forcing the Petrels (9-4-1, 3-3-1 SAA) goalkeeper to make key saves in the corner most parts of the goal. Mia Ries added another on-target attempt in the 12th minute, forcing the Stormy Petrels' back line to remain on their toes.

Oglethorpe began to put pressure on the Berry defense at the 30th minute. The defense, anchored by Kate Hill, saved several Oglethorpe counterattacks, including a free kick following a foul by Berry's Ide Strickland.

Midway through the half, Berry's offense continued to push the tempo. Connors fired again in the 40th minute, followed by quality chances from Abby Morgan and Kelsie Crosier, who tested the Oglethorpe keeper from just outside the box. The Vikings' combination play in the attacking third kept Oglethorpe pinned deep for stretches, but Berry could not find the finishing touch before the break.

The second half opened with more of the same intensity. Berry came out aggressive, earning multiple corner kicks and maintaining offensive control through the first 10 minutes. Giselle Aitken and Strickland each took shots that narrowly missed the frame, while Crosier and Teresa Rodriguez continued to test Crim with shots on target late in the match.

Hill came up big again in the 64th minute, stopping a close-range effort from Oglethorpe to preserve the clean sheet. The final minutes saw both sides trading possession and set pieces, but neither team was able to capitalize before the final whistle.

The Vikings outshot the Stormy Petrels 24–7 and led in shots on goal 9–3, but Oglethorpe's defense and Crim's seven saves proved the difference in keeping the match scoreless.
