Danville, Ky. - The Berry College women's soccer team dropped a tough road game 1-0 to the Centre College Colonels on Friday evening on the road.
The first half started off a little slow on both teams' ends. At minute seven Giselle Aitken performed an attempted shot towards the goal as she started to get things moving for her team.
Near the end of the half there was another attempted shot made by Annie Connors who came close to getting the ball in the goal.Â
Not many more attempts were made in the first half but there were a couple remarkable saves on both sides. Kate Hill for Berry denied Centre from scoring two times. Centre also came up with the same amount of saves keeping it tied with Berry.Â
Both teams made sure to keep their defenses high as no goals were made leaving the score 0-0. In total there were two attempted attacks made on Berry's end and Centre with four. As for attempted shots on goals both teams had two. There were four corners by Centre with only one for the Vikings.
In the beginning of the second half both teams started off like they did the last half. Both high on defense and going at their offense strong. It wasn't until the 15th minute where Centre was able to get their first goal in, setting the score 0-1.
Berry responded with an attempted shot from Gianna Maimone, who made the most attempts overall on both halves.Â
The rest of this half went on with both teams holding a great defense as no more goals were scored. In the second half their was only one attempted shot from Berry and nine from Centre. Berry had a lot of saves with three in total. The Vikings were unable to pull of a comeback as they fell 1-0.
The Vikings will return to action on the road as they travel to Sewanee, TN to take on Sewanee on Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 PM.
