Box Score

CASTINE, Maine -- Four different Vikings scored as Berry College defeated Maine Maritime Academy, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon. BC went a perfect 2-0 and outscored opponents 13-0 at the Inaugural Old Town Canoe Classic.

Lauren Skyora managed to find Tessa Piety through traffic in front of the net to account for the first goal. Piety placed the ball just out of reach of Mariner goalie Kelsie Hilton (five saves).

In the 29th minute the Vikings struck again. Maggie Midkiff tallied to make the score  2-0.

On her second straight attempt, Chandler Maddox played a perfectly kicked corner kick in the corner of the net, to extend the Berry lead to 3-0 in the 32nd minute.

Opening up the second half Sara Dillon added another goal for the Vikings--on a second chance opportunity in front of the net after Hilton saved a header attempt--setting the deficit at 4-0.

"They were a tough team," said Berry Head Coach Lorenzo Canalis. "Although they were a tough nut to crack, we did what we needed to do to earn the win. It was an efficient victory with good ball possession and timely goal-scoring."

Jackie McGivney started in goal and got the win. Maggie Piety played the final 16 minutes for Berry.

Maine Maritime dropped to 1-1 on the season.

The Vikings host Trinity of Texas, ranked second nationally in the NSCAA National poll, next Sunday at noon.
