MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - A host of Vikings have brought in honors from the Southern Athletic Association ahead of their postseason run.
Senior Braxton Benham headlines the All-SAA honors with an Athlete of the Year award as well as an All-SAA First Team nod. Arguably one of the best seasons by any player in the country, Benham's 2024-2025 campaign has been nothing short of spectacular. The Cartersville, Georgia, native eclipsed 1,000 points early on in the season and later would become the All-Time Leading scorer in the D3 Era for Berry Men's Basketball. Braxton averages 22.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, an 5.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. His best games came on February 2 against Rhodes and February 7 against Sewanee, where Benham dropped over 40 points in two consecutive contests including a double-double against Sewanee.
Coach Matt Richter and his staff garner Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in Richter's first season at the helm. The Vikings hold a 17-8 overall record and a conference-best 10-2 record in the SAA. Under Richter's leadership, the Vikings set their sights on another SAA Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.
Senior Parker Godwin earned All-SAA Honorable Mention in just his second season as a Viking. At 6'3, the dynamic combo guard has taken on the challenge of guarding much bigger opponents while utilizing his speed and shooting to keep the opposition on its heels. Godwin averages 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on his way to the Honorable Mention. The Grove Oak, Alabama, native's best game was against Covenant, when he poured in 27 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block, all while shooting 82 percent from the field and 75 percent from the three-point line for the game.
Senior Jacob Morgan joins Godwin as an All-SAA Honorable Mention as he provided elite size, shooting, and versatility from his forward position throughout the season. The Huntersville, North Carolina, native averages 11.4 points and 5.4 rebounds. Morgan's best individual performance came against nationally ranked Emory University, where Jacob scored 22 points and added 7 rebounds. On the season, the forward made 50 total three-pointers at nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc.
Newcomer, Grant Stubbs, has earned SAA All-Sportsmanship for his model presence as an ambassador for his team.
