MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Four Vikings were exceptional beyond just the court this season for men's basketball, as Cameron Pope, Canon Armstead, Ryan Luttrell, and Drew Winegarden, all earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 14 (men) and April 15 (women).
Cameron Pope's breakout junior season ends in style with his second CSC Academic All-District honor of his career. The junior guard led the Vikings with 13 points and 4 rebounds per game after starting all 25 games. The Canton, Georgia, native's exemplary work ethic in the classroom is no breaking news, as Pope maintains a 3.89 GPA and has earned SAA Honor Roll in each of his first two years at Berry, and is primed for a third in his junior campaign.
Ryan Luttrell made tremendous strides in his junior year, earning his first CSC Academic All-District nod. The Marietta native poured in career highs in points, assists, steals, and rebounds. Ryan maintains a 3.68 GPA and is also looking for his third consecutive SAA Honor Roll recognition.
Canon Armstead earns his second consecutive CSC Academic All-District nod after another productive season. On the court, he notched career-highs in points, steals, and assists. The Homewood, Alabama, native boasts a 3.82 GPA and is looking for a third consecutive spot on the SAA Honor Roll.
Drew Winegarden got it done both in the classroom and from beyond the arc, as the sharpshooter earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor, while also becoming the all-time leading three-point shot maker in school history (153). Winegarden is also looking for his third straight SAA Honor Roll selection.
