Box Score ROME, Ga. - Berry Men's Tennis fell to Centre College today in their final home match of the season 3-6.

Having played some of their best tennis against Sewanee yesterday, the men were eager to maintain that same performance heading into today's doubles matches vs. Centre College. Noah Koch / Diego Lopez at first doubles set the standard with a tough 8-6 win, and Drayton Matus / Bohdan Higley at second doubles were right on their heels. However, an inability to convert several deuce points left them trailing in their match, ultimately losing 2-8. Due to Jake Chapman's injury, Jace Goode was filling in at third doubles with Aiden Benoualid and, as a new doubles pairing, they were able to contest their match despite a 5-8 loss.

Trailing 1-2 after doubles, the men were intent on righting that scoreline with Diego Lopez at second singles securing his match off single breaks of serve, winning 6-3, 6-3. Noah Koch at first singles was faced with an opponent who was on fire in the first set, but Noah remained steady and pounced on every opportunity given, ultimately winning 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. However, Centre College was steadfast in their resolve and mounted strong resistance in the remaining matches, with Drayton Matus and Aiden Benoualid at third and fifth singles losing 2-6, 1-6 and 4-6, 1-6, respectively. Nico Koch was presented with a rare opportunity to play sixth singles and competed valiantly but succumbed 4-6, 4-6. Jace Goode at fourth singles fought back from a first set deficit to close the scoreline but was unable to complete the reverse sweep, losing 1-6, 6-4, 3-6. Despite the loses over this weekend, the men are playing some of their best tennis and will look to solidify their spot in the conference during next Saturday's match against Birmingham – Southern College.
