Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. - Women's tennis took down Oglethorpe in today's Southern Athletic Association match with a sweep at 9-0.
After a refreshing spring break, the ladies came energized and prepared to face their first conference match against Oglethorpe University at their venue. The doubles teams jumped to a strong start with both Olivia Walton / Angelle Thornton and Saris Mejia / Lacey Craig securing 8-0 victories at third and second doubles, respectively. First doubles was not long to follow with Juliana Mascagni and Lauren Masteller winning 8-3 against their rivals.
Singles began equally strong with Saris Mejia and Sydney Coppola dropping zero games in route to their victories at second and sixth singles, respectively. First singles Lauren Masteller found herself trailing in the first set, but managed to rally and win 7-5, 6-2. Olivia Walton at fourth singles and Angelle Thornton at fifth singles won their matches decisively. Lacey Craig at third singles encountered a tough opponent, splitting sets and even reaching a decisive third set tiebreak. However, the team rallied around her and Lacey was able to win the tiebreak, securing a clean 9-0 sweep for Berry College!Â
