Box Score MOUNT BERRY, Ga.—Berry's women soccer team put on a offensive performance with a 6-1 win over Huntington College at Bob Pearson field Sunday afternoon.
Nicole Knight led the Vikings to their first goal 17 minutes into the half and was assisted by Molly Hellwig. Knight led Berry to its first goal of the match by applying pressure on Huntington making it hard for their defense to keep up.
11 minutes later, Berry's defense lined up against Huntington to score Berry's second goal. This time it was by Christina Marijanich and was assisted by Caroline Crimi. The Vikings kept on applying pressure to keep possession, making it hard for Huntington to get their foot on the ball.
After passing the ball back and forth through the box, the Vikings made their way up to score another goal from the upper left side of the box. Eli Moraitakis scored her first goal of the season and was assisted by Payton Goolsby. Moraitakis kept applying pressure onto Huntington's defenders, sprinting down to the left wing with the ball and bringing it to the net. Making it the fourth goal of the match, and her second career goal this season.
The Vikings started off the second half strong, still in the lead. With four Berry defenders pressing on Huntington's backs, Berry attempted their fifth goal, but this time, it was saved by Huntington's goalie. The intensity of the half increased as the Hawks were forced to keep up with the Vikings speed as they moved through the box.
With 20 minutes left on the clock, Peyton Goolsby sprinted to the right wing with a wall pass to find Knight who scored her second goal of the match, and her sixth goal this season. With seven minutes remaining of the match, forward Haylee Stephens added one more goal to the score and was assisted by Hellwig.
After a period of possession in the offensive half and with Berry up by 6-0, Huntington's defense scored the only goal for the Hawks in the last six minutes of the match, making the score 6-1.
