Box Score Despite reeling off a game-high 24 shots, the Berry women's soccer team were handed a 1-0 road loss Saturday afternoon when host Piedmont converted just its sixth shot into a goal with just over five minutes to play to hand the Vikings a 1-0 defeat in Demorest, Ga.
The setback gives the Vikes their second loss in as many outings during the opening week of the season, but head coach
Kathy Brown's squad will be out to break into the win column when they return to the home turf of Pearson Field on Wednesday when Berry hosts Covenant for a 7 p.m. match.
Karsen Brantley and
Maeve McDougal led the offensive attach for Berry taking eight and six shots, respectively, for the Vikings. All told, Berry has seven shot on goal.
Goalkeeper
Maggie Jones recorded three saves for Berry as Piedmont ended the day with four shots on goal, but the Lions last shot of the game found its way into the back of the net when Kaity Hemperly scored the game-winner late in the match.
