Box Score ROME, Ga. — Vanessa Belanger sent an overtime penalty kick into the back of the net on Wednesday night, giving the Berry College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over the Piedmont College Lions.
Berry improves to 2-1-0 on the year while Piedmont fell to 1-2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Berry's offensive attack was persistent all evening, recording 16 total shots and 11 corner kicks, but could not break through a strong Lions defense.
- The Vikings tested Piedmont's keeper, Miranda McNalley, just five times in the match as she recorded four saves.
- Berry sent a corner into the box in the 94th minute, earning a foul and the penalty kick.
- Belanger sent it to the lower left corner of the net to secure the win.
