MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Berry College women's soccer team fell to the Rhodes College Lynx, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The loss was the first for the Vikes in six games, dropping them to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Lynx to 9-5-1 and 4-2.
Neither team found a way to score in the first half, leaving the game tied at 0-0, after forty-five minutes.
Aly Hoyt scored the only goal of the game in the fiftieth-minute. Finding the back of the net off of a blocked header by Kelsey Sweeney. Hoyt's goal put the Lynx ahead, 1-0.
Maggie Midkiff led the Vikings' offense with three shots on goal in the loss.
Rhodes led the game in both shots (11-6) and corner kicks (5-1).
Logan Williams and Jackie McGivney split the game in goal for the Vikes. McGivney took the loss, allowing the only goal in her forty-five minutes of work.
The Vikings travel to Sewanee, Tennessee, to take on Sewanee in their next SAA match on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m.
