Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Rachel LeRoy scored in the 87th minute as Berry College defeated Rhodes, 1-0, in a Southern Athletic Association Tournament semifinal match on Saturday. The win extended BC's winning streak to nine games.
Berry improved to 16-3 and will play in Sunday's championship game. Rhodes ended its year at 14-5-3.
"Wow, what a tight game," said Head Coach Lorenzo Canalis. "We had almost forgotten what postseason is all about; to win it with such a quality executed goal makes it extra special."
Freshman Maggie Midkiff earned her fifth assist of the year on the scoring play. The goal was LeRoy's fifth of the season.
Berry led in shots (14-9), but trailed in corner kicks. Melissa Sanchez made one save and got the win for BC.
The Vikings and Centre, the defending champions, play at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the SAA Championship match. Centre won at Berry, 1-0, earlier this year.
