RALEIGH, N.C. – After hanging on through over 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, Berry (1-1) fell to Meredith (2-0) by a 1-0 margin in double overtime on Sunday afternoon at the Meredith Labor Day Classic.

Meredith's Kimberley Williams scored at 109:00 to help her team claim the tournament championship.

After starting at noon, the game was delayed by a thunderstorm for at least an hour and a half.

Though the team struggled with fatigue all afternoon, Berry head coach Lorenzo Canalis said he liked the group's determination.

"It took a goal in the second overtime to beat us so I'm pretty proud of them," Canalis said. "Meredith took it to us for most of the game, but we defended pretty well."

Kelsey Hoper earned the win in goal for Meredith after making two saves. Berry's Brooke Clement was saddled with the loss after recording four saves.

Kim Treese, who scored the winning goal in Saturday's Berry-Guilford matchup, booted Berry's two lone shots. Danielle Lee and Williams had three shots apiece for Meredith.

Following the event's conclusion, Berry's Mallory Campbell, Lib Lockett, Becca Proschansky, and Treese were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Berry will be back in action on Friday afternoon in its home opener against Mississippi College at 2 p.m.

"We've just got to generate more offense," said Canalis about what the team needs to improve upon before next weekend. "I think our defense is doing fine."
