Jake Pullen teamed up with Ben Ortman to win the point in the No. 2 doubles position and then picked up a straight sets singles victory to help lead Berry to a 5-4 victory over Alfred University in a men's tennis match in Orlando, Fla., Sunday evening.
Pullen defeated Stefan Nonnenman 7-5, 6-3 in the fourth singles slot to earn one of Berry's four singles points. Berry's Logan Yerbey and Jonathan Surls won in the top two singles positions, and teammate Kyle Stapleton earned a point in the sixth position to seal the victory.
Yerbey defeated Nick Schneider 6-0, 6-4, while Surls beat Nathan Garletts 6-2, 6-2. After dropping the first set 7-6 in a 10-8 tiebreaker, Stapleton came back in impressive fashion, winning the next two sets against Kyle McDevitt 6-0, 6-1 to clinch the win.
Berry returns to action Monday morning against Coe.
