Berry's men's tennis team opened its spring break trip to Orlando, Fla., with a 9-0 loss at the hands of Augustana, Ill., Friday afternoon.
Augustana won all six singles matches in straight sets, but Berry didn't go down without a fight. Ben Ortman forced a tiebreaker in the second set against Jack Cullen in the third position, before Cullen eventually won 6-0, 7-6 (5). Three other Berry players nearly forced tiebreakers, with Logan Yerbey falling to Adam DeSimone 7-5, 6-3 in the first position, Jonathan Surls falling 6-2, 7-5 to Andy Wall in the second slot and Colby Chapman falling 7-5, 6-3 to Kevin Bayles in the fifth position.
Berry is scheduled to return to action Sunday against Alfred University.
