Box Score Rome, Ga. – Rhodes College defeated Berry College, 1-0, in an SAA match at Ford Field on Friday. Rhodes improved to 7-2-1 and 1-1. Berry is now 2-6 and 0-2.
Goalkeeper Blair Shupenko made nine saves for the Vikings in the match.
Elizabeth Wayda tallied the game's only goal in the 43rd minute. On the scoring play, a Lynx shot hit the crossbar and caromed near the top of the box. Shupenko was out of position due to the ricochet. Hannah Selner passed to Wayda, who easily finished for Rhodes.
"We did not play a good first half," said Berry Head Coach Lorenzo Canalis. "But we came out and competed much better in the second period and I was happy with that. Rhodes is a very good team."
Rhodes out-shot the Vikings, 19-3. The Lynx had the game's lone corner kick.
Berry College hosts SAA foe Hendrix on Sunday. Match time is at noon.
