Ali Shaw Scores Second Half Goal To Give Lady Vikings Tie on the Road

Berry's Ali Shaw scored midway through the second half as the Lady Vikings earned a 1-1 tie on the road against Brenau Friday night in Gainesville, Ga.

With her team down 1-0 in the second half, Shaw received a through pass from Leah Hatheway and inserted into the net for what turned out to be the match-tying goal.

It was Shaw's first goal of the season.  Hatheway's assist marked the sixth consecutive match in which she has registered at least one point, even though her goal-scoring streak was halted at five straight matches.

"We really only made one mistake in the first half, and found ourselves down 1-0," Berry coach Lorenzo Canalis said.  "Brenau is a good team that defends very well.  We had plenty of chances in the first half, but they all seemed rushed or their defenders or goalkeeper came through with nice plays."

Canalis said his team's effort after halftime impressed him.

"I thought we played really well in the second half," Canalis said.  "I was very proud of our team."

Berry is scheduled to return to action Oct. 5 at Maryville.
