Men's Track in Second After Friday Action at SAA Championships

SEWANEE, Tenn. - After the opening day of the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships the Berry men sit in second with 70 points, 11 points behind Centre.

Tucker Wright opened up the meet in good standing as he finished first in the men's 10k, an event the Vikings are known for. His time of 33:15.24 was six seconds quicker than the second-place finisher. In third was Ethan Smith, bringing in quality points for the squad with his time of 33:29.55 and Owen Gagnon, a freshman claimed a point with his eighth place finish.

In the only other scored track event of the day, the 3000m Steeplechase, Vikings' Joey Kowalczewski and Gianpaolo Longo took second and fifth to finish their steeplechase careers as two seniors. They posted times of 9:53.61 and 9:58.64, respectively.

The men continued to show out in the field events going 5-6-7 in the Javelin with marks of 43.52m, 42.76m, and 42.64m from Cole Gearing, Hayden Cagle, and Kevin Krum.

The team took 21 total points in the Hammer with Dawson Livingston winning the event at a mark of 52.93m while Tonny Garcia finished third at 45.23m. Joseph Rampey and Bryson Hill went fifth and eighth with their marks of 42.86m and 40.85m.

Alden McDonald was back from injury to compete in his event, the Pole Vault. Not seeing much action this outdoor season, the senior pushed himself to the limits to take first in the event (4.55m). Teammate John Harris took sixth (3.63m).

All-SAA honors are given to those student-athletes who finish in the top three in their respective events. A running tally of Berry's All-SAA performers and their events based on their highest finishes will kept here during the conference championships.
