DANVILLE, KY- The Vikings were victorious with a 6-2 score to complete the series sweep against the Colonels of Centre College.
Starting in the circle for Berry was Hannah Gore, who dominated with 7 strikeouts in her 3 innings pitched.
The Vikings got it started early, driving in Ava Fouts in the top of the 1st inning for the first run of the game.
Going into the 2nd inning, Erica Bennett roped a double to right field, putting herself in scoring position. Bennett was knocked in on a single by Katie Parker, putting the score at 2-0.
Berry put pressure on the Colonel defense, loading the bases at the top of the third inning. The Vikings remained selective at the plate, as a walk by Erica Bennett brought in Kenneddy Moody (3-0).
With Katie Parker on third base at the top of the 4th inning, Ava Fouts stole second base, drawing the throw and allowing Parker to score (4-0).
Megan Rapillo came in for relief of Gore, keeping the Colonels scoreless with two strikeouts.
Going into the 6th inning, Paige Bennett gave more insurance to the Vikings with a solo home run bringing the score to 5-0.
Ava Fouts closed out the game in the circle for Berry.
The Colonels scraped two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning off a double by C.Floyd, making a 5-2 score.
In response, the Vikings pushed one run on a single by Erica Bennett and held the Colonels scoreless in the 7th inning, with the final score being 6-2.
