DAVENPORT, Fla. - The Berry Men's Lacrosse team hit the road to Florida to kick off their Spring Break trip facing off with Otterbein and falling 13-9.
Three quick goals from the Vikings under the Florida sun seemed to have the team going with two from
Finn McClendon in the first five minutes of play. Up 3-0, two goals snuck by to bring the deficit back to one. However,
Braxton Rich notched one in to push the score up right before Otterbein brought it right back down scoring in the last two minutes.
Berry was up 4-3 to start the second period and
Ethan Perlakowski scored one that was answered by two goals from Otterbein to tie the game at five. Now with
Evan Cuffe in the goal, the Vikings defense had to fight harder as they struggled to find shots offensively.Â
It was with three minutes left in the first half that the tide changed for Berry, Otterbein captured their first lead at 7-6 and although McClendon tied it at 7 to start the third, Berry would never regain their lead.
Otterbein answered the opening third period goal with two back-to-back and later went on a 3-0 run to finish off Berry at 13-9.
Finn McClendon led the team with four goals on eight shots and
Sean Johnson had two caused turnovers with six ground balls along with
Robert Fenters and Caleb Johnson.
Berry returns to action in Florida against Clarkson University on March 15 at 12:00 PM.
