DANVILLE, Ky. - The Men's Indoor Track and Field team wrap up their two days of competition with a second place finish in the SAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The men's team repeated as SAA Runner-ups after finishing 2nd last year. There was a great effort all around as Berry tried to overcome the deficit of not having as many athletes in events as conference champion, Centre.
Jahari Jones was the Men's Athlete of the Meet (high point scorer) after pulling off a very rare triple winning the 60m, 200m, and 400m with all new SAA conference record times of 6.7, 21.87, and 49.18 with his time in the 200m placing 9
th in the Nation for Division III to qualify him for the NCAA Championships.
Ethan Smith earned Second Team All-SAA in the mile, placing second with a time of 4:22.66. Teammates T Harris and
Peter Ivester took sixth and eighth overall.
Marcus Wilson and
Ryan Barch garnered points for the Vikings in the 60m Hurdles with fourth and seventh place finishes, respectively. Wilson's time of 8.49 was a new PR and Berry school record.
Junior
Jaden Melville also benefited the Vikings in the 60m with a fourth-place finish at 7.15.
Andy Forsyth, as just a freshman did very well to earn all-conference honors in the 800m with a second-place finish with his time of 1:59.89.
Tucker Wright headlined the 3000m with his first-place finish at 8:38.08, a new SAA conference championship record.
Brooks Johnson also had a top five finish with a fifth place take at a time of 8:51.67.
In the team event of the 4x400m relay, Wilson, Forsyth, Smith, and Jones finished third overall to capture SAA Honorable Mention.
In the field events,
Alden McDonald was the lone Viking in the pole vault having a second-place finish (4.87m). In the shot put, Berry had four top eight finishers with
Mason Robinson taking home the title "Champion." In Robinson's last career meet he broke former Berry thrower,
David Billiards record from last year at 15.25m, also a new Centre facility record. Joseph Ramped had a big PR at 14.05m to take third place in the event while
Dawson Livingston and
Tonny Garcia finished fourth and sixth.
