MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Softball dropped their first Super Regional game at home against Belhaven University 10-1.
The game started steady with both teams locked in as they are two of sixteen teams left in NCAA Division III. Kay Williams Field was packed with eager fans to watch the rematch of last year's Super Regional.
Things started off a bit slow with the most exciting thing in the first inning being a triple from
Lauren Cothern, but the Vikings would be unable to score off of it.
In the second things started to pick up, with Elly Bennet hitting a triple and scoring a run to give Berry the 1-0 advantage.
However, starting pitcher, Kennedy Carruth for the Blazers stepped up to the plate to take the lead with a two-run home run that would trigger lots of momentum for her team.
Going up 2-1, Belhaven never stopped with two four run innings and three homeruns on the day, the Blazers were hot in their revenge match.
Tomorrow, a Super Regional Champion will be crowned with game two of the Super Regional beginning at 1:00 PM ET and the 'if necessary' game following at 3:30 PM ET.
