LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Vikings closed out their regular season on the road at Covenant with a sweep in today's doubleheader to conclude 37-3 overall in their 2024 campaign.
Game One Berry 11 - Covenant 1
Berry scored in all five innings of play in game one to shut down the Scots.
With bases loaded, a walk sent in the Vikings first run of the game in the first. In the second,
Katie White's grand slam headlined all batters and took a 5-0 lead.
White led all batters going 2-3 at the plate scoring twice with six RBIs! Her grand slam was not her only homer of the game either, in the fifth she really deterred the Scots with a two-run homerun scoring the 11
th run of the game.
Hannah Gore was once again in the circle and pitched the completed game with nine strikeouts in her outing!
Game Two Berry 13 - Covenant 3
The second game played a different tune, with a close game up until the sixth inning.
It was Covenant who took the 2-0 lead over the Vikings in the first two innings with
Ava Fouts in the circle. She was relieved by
Danielle Sudick who only allowed on more run before Gore returned after game one, with a stellar four strikeouts to carry the team to victory defensively.
Offensively,
Katie White continued to have a day with her third homer on the day and this time,
Anna Jackson followed in her lead with a home run of her own while breaking the program record for RBIs in a single season with 53.
Both homeruns came in the third to give Berry the lead at 4-2 and the Scots soon cut it to 4-3 before a huge six run sixth inning from the Vikings.
Six hits and aggressive baserunning put the Vikings in a great position after the sixth inning, regaining their ground and handling business on the mountain.
Berry once again run ruled the Scots to finalize their regular season on a high note as they head into the SAA Tournament this weekend.
