Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse | | Paige Ward

Men's Lacrosse Advances to SAA Semifinals

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Men's Lacrosse earned the right to host the sixth seeded Hendrix Warriors and ended their time at Valhalla with a win to advance to the SAA Semifinals next weekend.

In a compelling Men's Lacrosse matchup, the Berry Vikings showcased their dominance with a resounding 11-5 win over the Hendrix College Warriors. With stellar performances on both offense and defense, Berry controlled the game from start to finish, leaving Hendrix struggling to keep pace.

After being tied at two through the first 15 minutes, the Vikings woke up to impress the home crowd.

Berry's offense was firing on all cylinders, with standout performances from multiple players. Michael McKenzie led the charge with an impressive hat-trick, tallying 3 goals and 2 assists. Ethan Perlakowski also made significant contributions, netting 3 goals of his own and showcasing his scoring prowess. Additionally, Michael Beirne added to the offensive onslaught with a goal and 9 shots, while Finn McClendon and Braxton Rich chipped in with crucial goals to help secure the victory.

The Vikings defense proved to be equally formidable, stifling Hendrix's offensive efforts throughout the game. Goalkeeper Addison Irwin anchored the defense with 5 saves, effectively shutting down scoring opportunities and frustrating Hendrix's attackers. The defensive unit, led by Caleb Johnston and Tyler Freilich, displayed exceptional teamwork and communication, limiting Hendrix to just 5 goals for the entire game.

Despite the loss, Hendrix battled valiantly, with Maximus LaMendola leading the charge with an impressive hat-trick of his own. Bennett Davidson and Orion Danou also made notable contributions on the offensive end, each tallying multiple points to keep the game competitive.

The team will head to Danville, Kentucky, to take on the Sewanee Tigers on April 26 for the SAA Semifinal game, the winner will head to the Conference Championship.
