MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings fell in a tough contest to the Tigers of Sewanee in today's midday matchup 8-7.
Berry's four game win streak has come to a halt in this one point difference between two tough teams.
Sewanee opened up play with a goal in the first four minutes, but
Joey Cuthbert responded at the four-minute mark to tie it at one.
A tough shot with two seconds left in the first period put the Tigers back on top as the teams headed to the second.
After another goal from Sewanee, the Vikings took over for an extended period of time. Down 3-1,
Ethan Perlakowski nailed two and
Finn McClendon sunk one to take the 4-3 lead at the half!
Berry continued to roll on in the third with two more consecutive goals, this time from
Michael Beirne and Cuthbert (6-3). This stung the Tigers and they responded with a 4-0 run of goals tying it at six and taking the lead in the fourth at 7-6.
With six minutes to go, Beirne found another goal to tie the game at seven. However, Sewanee was able to score in the final three minutes to take the advantage. With a big caused turnover at the end of the game, Berry had the final possession but could not get their shots past the Tiger goalie.
Despite the loss, goalkeeper
Addison Irwin had 15 saves on the day and eclipsed a Berry all-time record!
Berry will be back in action on Sunday April 7 against BSC for Senior Day.
