MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings continue to win, especially in the SAA with two wins over the Lynx in today's games at 7-0 and 6-0, claiming the series and showing out for their seniors.
After honoring seniors
Morgan Frye,
Danielle Sudick,
Katie White,
Anna Jackson,
Sydney Moroney, and
Shelby Daniel, the Vikings got to work.
Game One Berry 7 - Rhodes 0
Three-time SAA pitcher of the week
Ava Fouts took her reign back in the circle claiming the game one win giving up only two hits with no runs and striking out four batters.
Offensively, Daniel led at 3-4 in the game with an RBI and a run while Frye crossed the plate twice.
A big first inning sealed the deal early for the Vikings: Sydney Daniel scored Fouts off a single and
Anna Jackson followed to score Frye for the 2-0 lead. With the bases loaded, a walk scored the Vikings third run, and the final three runs were sponsored by Lynx errors (6-0).
The final run came in the bottom of the fourth before Berry's defense finished the game in the top of the seventh to secure game one.
Game Two Berry 6 - Rhodes 0
Senior Daniell Sudick claimed the win in the circle, her fifth of the season as she and
Hannah Gore combined for a no hitter against Rhodes in game two.
Lauren Cothern and
Katie Parker brought in Berry's first two runs in the second, and Parker headlined the day with a three run homer in the sixth to solidify the 6-0 lead.
Defensively the Vikings held strong every inning, the pitcher backed by the infield and outfield making huge plays in an effort to keep Rhodes off the bases and allow no hits.
Hannah Gore's final two strikeouts were instrumental in securing the game in the top of the seventh.
Berry finishes the series with Rhodes tomorrow in game three, game time set for 12:00 PM ET.
