LAGRANGE, Ga. - Berry Baseball hit the road to LaGrange, who has been receiving votes in the latest top 25 poll, for a single game where they fell 12-10.
The bottom of the first inning doomed the Vikings from the start after opening up with a double by
Chase Edmonds, Rily Uhls sacrifice fly scored the first run for the Vikings for the 1-0 lead. However, six runs on five hits is how the Panthers started on their home field.
With the Panthers up 6-1, Berry had their work cut out for them, but they refused to give up.
Nick Brunswick's triple in the top of the third put him in scoring position and he came across on a wild pitch (6-2). LaGrange continued to answer the Viking's runs with a solo homer in the bottom of the third and another run later on to put the score at 8-2.Â
A few errors by the home team put Berry back in a better position scoring a few runs at 8-5, but again somehow the Panthers found three runs of their own.
In the top of the ninth with the score at 12-6, the Vikings looked to make a late comeback. Five singles scored four runs for the team, but LaGrange was able to get the third out in the right time, stranding one baserunner and taking the game by two (12-10).
Berry will return to action at home this weekend against SAA opponent Oglethorpe for a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
