SEWANEE, Tenn. - Viking Softball completed the conference sweep over Sewanee and are now 17-2 overall and 3-0 in the SAA with their dominant 13-3 performance.
Today's game ended in six innings against the Tigers as Berry run-ruled their opponent.
Danielle Sudick earned the win in the circle for the Vikings pitching four innings, giving up two runs, with 4 strikeouts before being relieved by
Hannah Gore.
Berry stayed hot at the plate with 17 hits on the day, led by three from
Ava Fouts and
Katie White.
Three errors by the Tigers in the top of the first aided Berry in their first two runs of the game. In the third, the scoring struck again, and the Vikings went up 6-0 sparked by Fouts single down the left field line and
Anna Jackson bringing in two off a single to center. Sewanee found a run in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 6-1.
At the beginning of the fifth inning the score sat at 7-2 and
Rachel Runsick scored the eighth Berry run.
In the sixth, the Vikings decided to close out the game starting with
Katie White's two run homer (10-2). The bases were loaded after a double from
Shelby Daniel, a hit by pitch, and a
Katelyn Boman single to the short stop.
Latifa Madesko and
Sydney Moroney finalized the game with three more runs from a single and a double, respectively, securing their first Southern Athletic Association sweep.
Berry returns home to take on the Hawks of Huntingdon College on March 14
th for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM ET.
