MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings close out the first half of the season with the defeat of Earlham College in today's contest, 81-68.
Leading scorer,
Braxton Benham clinched his 1,000th career point in today's win with 3:29 left in the game and finished with 20-points in the matchup against the Quakers.
Â
The game started off rocky facing a team that is now 0-11. There were lots of back and forth in the first half, but Berry held true and held the lead from the 13:50 mark on. The Vikings finalize the first 20-minutes of play up 35-31.
Jacob Morgan was on fire from three point land today, going 4-7 from beyond the arc while
Drew Winegarden and
Canon Armstead chipped in two triples of their own.Â
Berry really capitalized on the Quakers turnovers in the second half to generate more points and create distance against the team from Indiana. They hit the 10-point lead with 15 minutes to go with a three from
Jacob Morgan.
As a team, they continued to build from there, going up 17 in the next five minutes of play (61-44), which was brought home by Benham and Winegarden with a steal and a dunk and a good three point basket to hit the 20-point mark.Â
Earlham was unable to make a comeback as the Vikings end the 2024 year with a win.
Berry will return to action after the Holiday break in Newport News, Virginia, at the Christopher-Newport Tournament.
