MEMPHIS, Tenn.- In a dominant display, the Berry Vikings swept the Rhodes Lynx 3-0 at Mallory Gymnasium.
The Vikings surged to an early lead, quickly going up 7-0 behind strong kills from
Bella Boston and
Andrea Hurt, as well as several attack errors from Rhodes. Despite a brief comeback from Rhodes, with Yzzi Dsamou trying to keep them competitive, Berry's offense proved too strong, with
Lindsey MacDiarmid and
Keira Kruk adding key points. The Vikings finished the set comfortably with a nine-point lead.
Berry carried their momentum into the second set, maintaining control from the start. Boston and
Blakely Barnes were instrumental, contributing several kills. Rhodes struggled with their attack, making multiple errors, which Berry capitalized on. The Vikings' effective blocking, particularly from MacDiarmid and Lily Teagle, kept Rhodes from gaining any momentum. Berry closed the set convincingly, winning 25-14.
The third set was much like the first two, with Berry maintaining control throughout. Boston continued her strong performance, and Kruk added multiple kills. Rhodes had difficulty breaking through Berry's defense, and despite efforts from Dsamou, Berry's offense dominant. The Vikings swept the Lynx and closed the set 25-14.
Berry is back in action tomorrow in Conway, Arkansas, to take on SAA opponent Hendrix at 12:00 PM ET.
