MOUNT BERRY Ga –The Vikings find themselves back in the win column with a 2-0 victory over Covenant on Tuesday night.
After some back-and-forth action between both teams, the Vikings were awarded a penalty kick from a Covenant handball.
Maeve McDougal would be the one to step up to the spot for the Vikings, and she would bury the penalty shot in the 39th minute. That would be all the scoring action in the first half as the Vikings defense led by
Maggie Jones would come up with numerous stops.
The Vikings looked to continue pressing the offensive in the second half and generated multiple scoring opportunities that could not find the back of the net. The Vikings would dominate time of possession in the second half. Then, they would capitalize on an errant pass by Covenant's defense.
Mia Ries would be there for the Vikings and find the back of the net for an insurance goal in the 84th minute of the contest. The Berry defense would hold the rest of the game and get
Maggie Jones a clean sheet.
Berry will be back in action Saturday in Danville, Kentucky, at 1 p.m., where they will continue conference play against Centre.
