No. 13 Berry broke out the bats Saturday in Danville, Ky., with
Anna Jackson driving in eight runs across the two games of the doubleheader as the Vikings defeated Centre, 15-1 (5) and 16-1 (5), in Southern Athletic Association softball action.
Game One: Berry 15, Centre 1 (5)
Blair Hall and
Danielle Sudick pitched a combined no-hitter, and
Anna Jackson was a single short of the cycle as the Vikings took a 15-1 win in the opening game of the day.
Jackson started her day with an RBI triple down the line in right in the first, then connected for a two-run homer to center in the second. She completed her three-hit game with an RBI double in the third.
Every starter had a hit for the Vikings in the contest as the Vikings combined for 20 hits in a game.
Katie White,
Morgan Frye,
Shelby Daniel, Hall,
Paige Bennett, and
Sydney Moroney each had multi-hit days to join Jackson, with Daniel joining Jackson with three hits on the game. Frye connected for a no-doubt two-run homer in the third as part of a game with 10 extra-base hits for the Vikings.
Game Two: Berry 16, Centre 1
Morgan Frye made it a three-homer day with two more long balls in the second half of the doubleheader as the Vikings earned a 16-1 win.
Frye's leadoff homer in the top of the second opened the scoring for the Vikings (21-8, 11-0). Centre (6-25, 0-11) would tie the score in the bottom of the frame, but the Vikings scored six in the third.
Anna Jackson ripped a two-run double into the left field corner one batter before Frye, who connected on a two-run blast to right center.
Sydney Moroney would follow later in the inning with a two-run triple, and the rout was on.
Two-run doubles by
Shelby Daniel and
Paige Bennett preceeded a wild pitch that allowed Bennett to score to make it 12-1 in the fourth. In the fifth, Jackson brought home two with a triple, with Daniel singling home Jackson and Bennett scoring Daniel on a sacrifice fly to end the scoring.
Hannah Gore struck out seven in four innings of work in improving to 11-1 on the season with the win in the circle.
The two teams will wrap up their SAA series Sunday at noon.
