Karsen Brantley led the Berry women's soccer team with two goals against Millsaps College, Sunday morning in Jackson, Miss. as the Vikings scored a 5-1 triumph to keep them undefeated in Southern Athletic Association play.
Brantley attacked on offense, opening the scoring with her first goal in the 17th minute to put the Vikings up 1-0.
Lyndsey Francingues scored the second goal in the 21st minute to give Berry (8-3, 4-0 SAA) an edge. Less than a minute later, Brantley scored the third goal of the first half off an assist by
Hannah Henn to put them up 3-0.
The Vikings offense dominated with 11 shots in the first half and 13 in the second, with a total of 12 on goal. Millsaps (2-6-2, 0-3-1 SAA) had a total of six shots and three on goal giving goalkeeper
Julia Massa two saves.
Millsaps started the scoring In the 52nd minute to make it 3-1. Needing insurance to get the game back under control late,
Christina Marijanich and Brantley found
Sophia Coon who scored in the 86th minute to give the Vikings the lead at 4-1. Just 24 seconds later,
Haylee Stephens found the back of the net off an assist by
Kendall Varitek to put the Vikings to cap the scoring in favor of the guests.
Maintaining a lead in the SAA regular season standings after the road sweep, the Vikings will be back in action on home turf this Friday against Rhodes College with a kickoff at 5 p.m. at Bob Pearson Field.
