MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -
Jensen Brown's goal off a third-minute corner kick proved to be the difference as Berry's men's soccer team defeated Hendrix, 1-0, in Southern Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon in Mount Berry, Ga.
The Vikings (7-2-4, 3-2-1) were looking for a response after Friday's 1-1 draw against Rhodes which handed the Lynx their first blemish in SAA play. The response would come early in the contest against the Warriors. After earning a corner kick,
Bear Crystal delivered the ball into the box where
Nathan Carlson missed a header. Instead, the ball bundled to Brown, who buried the ball into the back of the net for the early lead.
From there, Berry's defense would do more than enough to earn the victory. Hendrix (7-3-3. 4-1-1) was handed its first loss in SAA play as the Vikings allowed just one shot on target in the contest. Jose Palacios made the only save of the contest Berry would need in the game's 83rd minute, preserving the clean sheet.
Berry will have one more home game before the SAA Championships, coming this Saturday against Oglethorpe. Opening kickoff is set for Noon.
