The Berry volleyball hit the road Friday for a busy three-day challenge and opened the weekend with an impressive five-set non-conference comeback win Friday night over host Transylvania 3-2.
The Vikings resume their weekend action Saturday with a Southern Athletic Conference clash at Centre and caps the trip Sunday with another SAA showdown at Sewanee.
Against the Pioneers on Friday, Berry broke out to a quick lead taking the first two sets 25-18 and 25-13. Transylvania, however, charged back by winning the next two sets 28-26 and 25-20 to tie the game and send the battle into a fifth and deciding set.
But in that fifth set, the Vikings stood their ground and emerged with a 16-14 decision to record the victory.
Highlighting Berry's win were
Peyton Breissinger and
Molly Bergin, who had 16 and 15 kills, respectively, while freshmen
Cypress Guenther added 10 kills.
Adding to the effort was
Kate Whittle, who had 4 aces, and
Laura Beier, who had 24 digs.
