Memphis, Tennessee – The men's basketball team topped Rhodes 83-44 on Sunday afternoon. The win gives the Vikings their sixth win of the season keeping their undefeated record alive. The Lynx fell to 0-6.
Berry, who has an average margin of victory of 24 points, scored their highest of the season on Sunday with 83, shooting 51.8 percent (29-56) from the field and 42.3 percent (11-26) from the distance.
"Overall we had a great weekend and enjoyed competing and playing," said head coach
Mitch Cole. "Our defense has remained tough and consistent."
Four Vikings scored in double digits with
Owen Honroth leading the way with 11 points and
Austin Brooks,
Rob Mbenoun and
Riley Costas each following with 10. Brooks also led the team with rebounds with nine. Each Viking contributed solid efforts and minutes, with the Berry bench outscoring the Rhodes' 50-29.
Berry led Rhodes 36-19 at the half and scored 47 in the second to secure the 83-44 victory. Rhodes, who struggled on both sides of the ball, only connected with 29.5 percent (18-61) from the field and 9.5 percent (2-21) from the distance. The Vikings won the rebounding battle 45-29.
"We are trying to play to a certain standard each game regardless of opponent or score," said Cole. "Our players are embracing how connected we have to be to play at a high level. They are meeting each challenge and consistently improving."
