Memphis, Tennessee – Berry's men's basketball team defeated Rhodes in the first game of the weekend series, 79-41, on Saturday night.
Berry has now won five straight games this season and remains undefeated, while Rhodes falls to 0-5.
Riley Costas, who connected with 6-9 from the field, led the all scorers with 14 points.
Michael Johnson hit 3-4 three-pointers, scoring 13 points during the matchup.
Drew Jones also scored in double figures with 10. Berry played 14 in the outing, with a number of bench players contributing solid minutes.
Both teams struggled to get anything going on offense early, taking nearly three minutes of the game to get points on the board, but a good layup by
Austin Brooks is just what the Vikings needed to get things rolling. Berry led 35-11, the lowest amount they've given up in a half all season, and scored 44 in the second half to secure the win.
The team shot 50.0 percent (29-57) from the floor and 42.9 percent (9-21) from the distance.
Berry will face off with Rhodes once more tomorrow for the final game of the series.
