Rome, Ga. – The Berry College softball team got a midweek doubleheader sweep of the Covenant Scots on Wednesday afternoon at Kay Williams field. The Vikings improved to 4-1 on the season.
Madison Hollis claimed the win in the opening game, improving to 3-0 on the year.
Meredith Holland earned the win in game two, pitching all five innings and throwing a no hitter. Holland walked just three batters, giving the Scots their only baserunners in game two.
The Vikings held onto a 2-0 lead until the Scots broke up the shutout in fifth inning, but Berry quickly answered back in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homerun from
Hannan Razeq followed by a double from
Samantha Crabtree to score one. The Vikings took game one 6-1.
Game two the bats were hot as Berry connected with 11 hits and scored eight runs in five innings.
Meghan Hunt sent one over the left field fence for a three-run homerun in the fourth inning, followed by a
Shelby Daniel double that cleared the bases and scored three. Berry took game two 8-0.
