Demorest, Ga. – The Berry College softball team added two more wins on Thursday when they defeated Piedmont College 4-3 in game one and 4-2 in game two.
Madison Hollis (4-0) got the start in the circle for game one, pitching all seven innings, striking out three batter and giving up just five hits.

Aleeya Thornton who reached base on a walk. Leading 2-0 in the third, Piedmont cut the lead to one with an infield single that scored one run. Berry put up a run in the fifth and the sixth to go up 4-1. The Lions fought back and added two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Vikings walked away with a 4-3 win.
Game two went into an extra inning, with the game tied 2-2.
Meredith Holland (2-0) pitched all eight innings, striking out eight batters, only allowing three hits, two runs and walking two batters. Thornton and
Meghan Hunt led the team in hits with two, each having one in the fourth inning that would result in a run for the Vikings to tie the game 1-1.
Berry was able to pull away with the 4-2 win in the eighth inning, following a successful bunt from Thornton and smart baserunning.
