The Berry women's basketball team shook off a season-opening setback the night before to taste victory for the first time this season when the Vikings handed LaGrange a 50-41 defeat Sunday at the USA/SAA Classic in Demorest, Ga.

                The Vikings now turn their attention to another two-day tournament next weekend when they take part in the Covenant Classic in Lookout Mountain, Ga., facing host Covenant on Friday at 8 p.m. and playing Brevard on Saturday at 2 p.m.

                On Sunday, as was the case in Saturday's loss to Piedmont, Berry broke out to a 21-18 halftime lead and held the lead going into the fourth quarter. But in the final period, the Vikings made sure that they finished the deal that eluded them the night before and sealed the win by outscoring LaGrange 18-10 over the final 10 minutes.

                Elizabeth Sierzant led the Vikings with a game-high 18 points, connecting on five of her six shots, while teammate Kennedy Moore also reached double figures with 11 and led the team with 11 rebounds.
