The Berry men's and women's swim team fell short in a dual meet Saturday against homestanding University of the Cumberlands, but Vikings head coach
Paul Flinchbaugh had good things to say about his squad.
"Although both the men and women came up short," Flinchbaugh said about the meet with men falling 189-82 while the women suffered a 182-93 setback, "we showed great competitive spirit throughout the day."
The men started out with a win in the 200 Medley Relay team of
Breck Richards,
Sam Tate,
Noah Brand and
Hunter Kenny combining for a winning time of 1:37.32.
Other event winners were
Paris Thornburg in the 50 Breaststroke (31.19) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.84);
Hannah Smith teamed up with
Sarabeth Brown for a one-two finish in the 100 Butterfly touching at 58.97 and 1:00.00 respectively; Smith came back later to win the 50 Butterfly at 26.44; and Brand took the men's 50 Fly at 23.48 for the final win of the day.
The Vikings stay on the road next weekend traveling to face Division II Emmanuel College.
