Men's Basketball Stuns #19 Centre in Front of Packed House

Box Score

ROME, Ga. — The Berry College men's basketball team took down the #19 Colonels in the Cage Center on Friday night thanks, in part, to the best crowd the Cage has seen all year.

Berry claimed a 60-58 victory after the Colonels were unable to connect on crucial free throws late in the game. With under 20-seconds left, Centre shot just 2-for-5 on foul shots with an opportunity to tie the game in front of a deafening crowd. The loss was just the third for the Colonels all year, as the team sits at 20-3 overall and 10-2 in conference play. Berry improved to 16-7 and 7-5 in conference.

Owen Honroth led the team with 13 points and was 3-for-6 from three-point range. DJ Estes followed with 12, connecting on a trio of three's. Austin Brooks also scored double-digits, notching 11 on 5-for-6 shooting.

The Vikings trailed by five at the half after falling behind by 13 in the first period, but connected on 50.0% of their shots in the second half to secure the win.

Berry returns home on Sunday to host Sewanee.
