Season Comes to Close for Women's Basketball in SAA Quarterfinals

Box Score

DANVILLE, Ky. — The Berry College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Sunday afternoon, falling to Centre College 64-53 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) quarterfinals.

With the loss, Berry closes the year 12-14 overall. McKenzie Smith had the highlight of the day, scoring a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Her rebounding total gave her Berry's Division III-era career record for total boards. Jana Morning and Madeline Sandman also added double-figures.

The Vikings trailed by five at the break, but out-scored the Colonels by a pair to cut the lead to a one possession deficit heading into the fourth quarter. Centre put up 20 points in the final period to secure the trip to the SAA semifinals.

As a team, Berry shot 38.6% from the field, but just 50.0% on free throws.
