Box Score ROME, Ga. — The Berry College men's basketball team opened the new year with a 92-49 victory over Rhodes College, improving to 2-0 in conference play.
Berry has now won eight straight to improve to 11-2 overall. Rhodes fell to 3-9 and 0-2 in conference competition. The Vikings are tied with Millsaps atop the SAA standings.
Dawson Wehunt and Drew Jones each hit four three-pointers, leading Berry to a season-high 13 baskets from distance. Wehunt led all scorers with 14 points, also dishing four assists. Jones followed with 13 and DJ Estes scored 10.
Berry played 17 in the outing, with a number of bench players contributing solid minutes late. Trey Falconer played 12 minutes, contributing nine points. Rob Mbenoun played in eight minutes, scoring four and snagging seven rebounds. Harris Barker hit a three-pointer in limited minutes and Jake Birdsong passed a pair of assists in the late stages of the game.
The Vikings went ahead 40-24 at the break and scored 52 in the second half to secure the win. The team shot 55.7% from the floor and 44.8% from distance.
Berry hosts Hendrix on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in another conference matchup.
