Men's Hoops Claims Sixth Straight Win, Tops Brevard on Late Haynes Layup

ATLANTACaleb Haynes scored with just second remaining on Sunday night, leading Berry to a 71-70 victory over Brevard to open the Oglethorpe University Holiday Inn Express Classic.

With the victory, Berry wins its sixth straight game to improve to 9-2 overall. Brevard fell to 1-8. 

Drew Jones led four double-digit scorers for Berry with 14 points. Haynes, Micah Johnson and Austin Brooks also scored double digits. As a team, the Vikings shot 43.1% from the field and blocked seven shots. 

The Vikings led by as much as 14 points late in the first half, and carried a 46-40 lead into the break. Brevard held the Vikings to just 26.9% from the field in the second half, but Haynes was able to find the game-winner late off an assist from DJ Estes

The team wraps up competition in Atlanta tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against St. Joseph's.
