DANVILLE, Ky. -- Peyton Howell scored a career-best 15 points, but the Berry College women's basketball team lost to Centre College, 57-50, on Friday night.
The loss dropped the Vikings to 8-16 overall and 2-11 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Colonels to 6-18 and 4-9.
Howell's 15 points led the BC offense. She was 6-of-15 from the field and sank one three-pointer in the loss. Howell also grabbed five rebounds and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Two other players tabbed double-digit points in the win: Emma Cook and Imani Smith.
Cook scored 12 points in the loss. Cook shot 5-of-10 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds for BC.
Smith added 10 points. She was 4-of-14 shooting and made two three-pointers in the loss.
For the Viking defense, Rosie Lynch grabbed seven rebounds as well.
The Colonels were ahead at the half 30-20. Berry then made a run to tie it in the second half, but they never got closer than one possession behind.
Alexis Guy led the Centre offense with 22 points. Guy was 7-for-17 from the field, as well as 7-for-12 from the free throw line. She also grabbed seven rebounds in the win.
The Colonels shot 40.9-percent (18-of-44) to the Vikings' 32.2-percent (19-of-59). Berry led the game in rebounds (37-32) and steals (12-9).
Berry will travel to Sewanee, Tennessee to play their last regular season game of the year on Sunday, Feb. 21 against Sewanee. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
