DANVILLE, Ky. – Owen Jacobs scored 15 points, but the Berry College men's basketball team fell to Centre College, 57-48, on Friday night.
The loss dropped the Vikings to 9-15 overall and 5-8 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Colonels to 16-8 and 8-5.
Jacobs' 15 points led the BC offensive effort. He shot 5-of-11 from the field, as well as 4-for-8 from the free throw line. Jacobs also sank one three-pointer and grabbed four rebounds in the loss.
Blake Scherrman and Lee McCloud each added 11 and ten points respectively.
Scherrman shot 3-of-9 from the field, sank one three-pointer and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Scherrman also tabbed three steals on the night.
McCloud was 4-of-10 shooting. He sank two three-pointers, passed three assists and added two steals for BC.
The lead changed teams ten times throughout the game. BC was ahead, 25-24, going into halftime.
For the Colonels, Blake Scinta scored a team-high 16 points. Scinta shot 4-of-5 from the field, sank one three-pointer and was 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He also grabbed eight rebounds for Centre.
The Colonels shot 40.0-percent (18-of-45) to the Vikings' 33.3-percent (17-of-51). Berry led the game in steals (10-4), while Centre led in rebounds (38-31) and assists (15-13).
The Vikings travel to Sewanee to finish regular season SAA play on Sunday, Feb. 21. Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Sewanne, Tennessee.
