MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Vikings men's basketball team was handed their second lost of the season by Oglethorpe University on Saturday night with a 120- 104 final.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Three pointers were huge for Oglethorpe, shooting 20-28 for 71.4%. Berry answered with nine of their own
• The Vikings held their ground in the paint scoring 56 points down low to the Petrel's 40.
• The Vikings stayed in the game on the boards, leading 35-34 in rebounding.
• Berry capitalized on turnovers, scoring 36 points on takeaways.
BERRY STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:
• Caleb Johnson: 29 points, 13-for-23 FG, 5 rebounds
• Cory Johnson: 22 points, 6-for-10 FG, 5 3FG, 2 rebounds
• Nick Marder: 13 points, 3-for-5 FG, 3 rebounds
OGLETHORPE STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:
• Justin Edwards: 27 points, 10-for-16 FG, 7 rebounds
• Mike Turner: 31 points, 11-for-11 FG, 8- for- 8 3P, 2 rebounds
• Chris Lawrence: 22 points, 7-for-11 FG, 1 rebound
NOTABLES:
• Berry is now 4-2 and 0-1 in the SAA.
• Johnson continues to lead the SAA in points-per-game with 20.8
• Alton McCloud is now No.4 in the SAA in rebounds per game (7.5)
• Four Vikings (Nick Marder, Lukas Korn, McCarty Forte, Caleb Johnson) are ranked top ten in the league in steals.
• Korn also leads the league in blocks with 8. Coleman Elingsworth and Tanner Spalding are also ranked top ten in this category.
