Box Score ROME, Ga. -- Caleb Johnson scored a game-high 27 points, but the Vikings lost to visiting Centre College, 76-66, on Friday night before 1,200 fans at the Cage Center.
Berry dropped to 7-10 and 4-3 in Southern Athletic Association play. Centre moved to 12-6 and 4-3.
Johnson was 9-of-27 shooting and made five 3-pointers in the game. Lee McCloud added 13 points and Lukas Korn contributed 10 for the home team.
Berry led 40-30 at halftime. The Vikings made 8-of-16 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes. BC shot 43-percent (13-30) to Centre's 39-percent (10-26) in the opening period.
The Vikings led by as many as 15 points in the second half before the Colonels rallied. CC shot 62-percent (13-of-21) in the final 20 minutes, including 8-of-11 (73-percent) from behind the 3-point arc.
Sam Gruber made a 3-pointer with 5:04 left to give the Colonels a 58-56 lead. There were eight lead changes in the game, but the Colonels never trailed again.
For the game, Centre shot 49-percent (23-of-47) to BC's 36-percent (23-of-64). The Colonels led in rebounding, 36-33. The Vikings committed just seven turnovers and forced 14 miscues in the contest.
Tucker Sine netted 25 points for the Colonels. He was 7-for-12 shooting and made five 3-pointers for the visitors. Tyler Wesley grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds for CC.
Prior to the game, senior Owen Jacobs (see below) was recognized for surpassing 1,000 career points. Jacobs, Tanner Spalding and McCarty Forte all missed the contest due to injury for the short-handed Vikings.
The large crowd was due in part to Berry's "Pack the House" promotion.
The Vikings host Sewanee on Sunday at 3 p.m.
